BFI is owned by Allied Waste, Inc., and is a wholly owned subsidiary of parent company Republic Services Inc. (Republic). The Sunshine Canyon Landfill is located at the border between the City of Los Angeles and the unincorporated territory of Los Angeles County, to the West of the intersection of the Golden State (I-5) and the Antelope Valley (R-14) Freeways. Sunshine Canyon Landfill is contained within portions of Section 23, 24, 25, and 26, Township 33 North (T3N), Range 16 West (R16W) of the San Bernardino Base and Meridian and is centered at latitude 34 degrees 19 minutes and 45 seconds North, and longitude 118 degrees 30 minutes and 48 seconds West.
